MagicSchool AI Quick Start Guide

MagicSchool AI Quickstart Guide

For ECPS teachers

ECPS provides MagicSchool Enterprise to all teachers through Clever. Use the educator tools to draft classroom materials, then revise them with your own instructional judgment before sharing. You can also create guided student activities in MagicStudent Rooms.

Create your first resource

1  Open MagicSchool from Clever.  Sign in to your ECPS Clever portal and select the MagicSchool tile. Your district account should open the educator workspace. If the tile is missing or access fails, contact district technology staff with your school and district email address.

2  Choose a tool.  Open Tools and search or browse by category. Start with Lesson Plan Generator, Worksheet Generator, Multiple Choice Assessment, Rubric Generator, or Text Leveler. If you are unsure, describe your task in Tool Recommendations or ask Raina.

3  Give useful details.  Enter the grade, subject, learning goal, length, format, and any constraints. Name the standard or paste your own source material when relevant. Use a sample prompt like the one below, then select Generate.

Example prompt  Create a grade 7 math review on proportional relationships with 10 mixed questions, two challenge levels, and a separate answer key. Include one real-world Lake Providence example. Keep directions student friendly.

4  Refine and check.  Read every question, answer, standard reference, and factual claim. Use the follow-up chat or edit the draft to change difficulty, length, tone, or format. Rework any item that does not fit your students or curriculum.

5  Save or export.  Use the bookmark icon to save a useful output in My Resources. Use Export to send it to Google Docs or download a Word file when offered, or copy the text into your own document. Available formats vary by tool. Review formatting and remove any answer key before distributing a student copy.

What to check before using an AI draft

Accuracy and fit. Solve problems yourself, verify citations and standards, and check reading level, accessibility, and local curriculum alignment. Treat the output as a draft you own and revise.

Student information. Use fictional or de-identified examples for routine drafting. Follow district direction before entering student names, grades, IEP details, or other sensitive records.

Good starting tools

Tool

First use

Lesson Plan Generator

Draft objectives, lesson flow, and checks for understanding.

Worksheet Generator

Build a practice sheet; edit text and activity blocks in Studio Mode.

Multiple Choice Assessment

Draft questions and distractors; verify every answer.

Rubric Generator

Create criteria and performance descriptions; align them to the assignment.

Text Leveler

Adapt a passage to a target reading level; review meaning and vocabulary.

If the result needs work

Too broad  Add the exact grade, topic, objective, question count, and format.

Too easy or difficult  Ask for a specific reading level, cognitive demand, or two versions with clear differences.

Incorrect or incomplete  Correct the draft yourself, revise the prompt, and check the source material. Do not rely on a generated citation without verification.

Need an editable copy  Select Export on the output or at the top of a Studio Mode document. Choose Google Docs or Word when available; formats vary by tool. Copy and paste also works.

Create a student activity

Enterprise includes MagicStudent Rooms. From MagicStudent, select Rooms, create a room, add and customize the student tools, save it, and share its join link, code, or QR code. Test the activity first and monitor student work from the MagicStudent dashboard. Follow district guidance for student access and the activity you assign.
